Using Data for Good: What does it mean? The tagline "Data for Good" emphasizes the need to tackle problems relevant to society and to promote the use of data in fair and ethical ways. It has become even more important to take into consideration legal, social, cultural, and philosophical questions as we invent new technology, and not after it is being used. In this talk I will present the vision and part of the research work developed at Columbia's Data Science Institute.
